Vehicles are used worldwide daily, so overall they give off a lot of gases that are damaging to the environment. By opting to walk instead of drive, we can decrease the extent of damaging emissions. Walk whenever you can, but don't beat yourself up if it just isn't possible. Any short trips by car can probably be replaced by walking without any real hassle. You'll get some exercise, save money, and bring down your personal tally of gas emissions.
3. Try not to leave the water running when you're brushing your teeth We use water in almost everything we do, from drinking to laundry to keeping radiators warm so it's no wonder so much of it is wasted every day. Letting the water running while you clean your teeth wastes water. Think of the amount of water goes to waste if you brush your teeth for two minutes with the tap on. Prepare for brushing and save water by putting a sufficient amount to rinse your mouth with in a glass beforehand.
4. Do short showers instead of bathing Baths use up a great deal more water and energy than taking a shower, so it's better to take a shower instead of a bath. However, this doesn't hold true if it takes you 20 minutes or more to shower! Be sure that you shower for a short time otherwise you will be wasting water!
5. Don't leave lights turned on constantly If you are not going to be back in a room for more than 5 minutes, don't leave the light switched on. If a room is empty, what purpose is served by leaving a light on? You'll save energy this way, which will save you money and help the earth. If the sun's bright outside it should provide enough light indoors for you not to have the lights on.
These tips are extremely simple and won't cost you anything to follow through. As a matter of fact, they'll likely save you money. So heed the call - begin living green.
